Housing and Planning Bill analysis

Reception to the Housing and Planning Bill, laid before Parliament in October, has been mixed to say the least. With provisions giving social housing tenants a right to buy (RTB), a 1 per cent annual rent reduction in the social rented sector over four years from April, and a pay-to-stay measure charging social housing tenants market rent, critics warn that housing associations, and social housing, could soon be a thing of the past.
Renewable Perspectives

Since the decisive Conservative win in the general election, the government has taken a very firm stance on environmental policies, and renewables in particular. In August it launched a consultation paper on feed-in tariffs with proposals to cut them by 87% from 2016. Businesses who have invested in solar farms are likely to be hardest hit by these proposals, as the government plans on removing incentives for large schemes (between 1 and 5 MW).
